My post on Art DIY week-end project gets many visits, so I though I should publish another compilation with more Do It Yourself (DIY) gems I found since then on the Internet.
Jim Serrett (make sure you also visit his studio blog ) is doing a wonderful job showing how to build yourself some nice painting boxes. Two great posts not to miss and a blog to keep an eye on:
Wet Canvas offers a number of very good tutorials:
- "Cigar Box Pastel Pochade" by Cori Nicholls, Contributing Editor of Wet Canvas, is a 3 pages illustrated tutorial on how to build a pochade box specifically for pastels.
- "Making Panels with Wallis Museum Paper" by Bill F, Contributing Editor, also in the Pastel section
- "Make Your Own Damar Varnish" by Robert Roberts, Contributing Editor
Richard McKinley, on Pastel Pointers, explains how to mount pastel paper in two different ways:
- In “How to mount pastel paper”, he explains the professional way to do it, which involve some investments
- In “Mounting Pastel Paper, Part 2: I Can Do It Myself!”, as the title suggests, Richard goes through the DIY approach to mounting paper on board.
