Interior of the Duomo’s dome in Florence

The interior of the dome is 45 metre-wide and the painted surface is 3,600 square metres.

Cosimo I de' Medici asked for a representation of The Last Judgment. Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari and their collaborators started in 1568 and and the work lasted until 1579.

Madonna with glass eyes at the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Florence

Madonna and Child (Madonna with Glass Eyes) – marble sculpture by Anolfo di Cambrio 

This sculpture, from 1296, was initially on the front of Santa Maria del Fiore church in Florence. It is made of marble, except from the Madonna glass eyes.
