Outside sculptures in Le Havre - France

Narrow House by Erwin Wurm - Located Avenue Foch, Le Havre, France.

The Austrian artist Erwin Wurm likes to distort reality. The Narrow House has been squished and is only 1 meter wide. The notice for this work explains that “the artist has reproduced inside the house of his parents, where he grew up. It highlights the notion of deprivation of resources and our ability to adapt.”

The location of the Narrow House is far from random. It has been erected Avenue Foch in the heart of the area of Le Havre designed by Auguste Perret, the wide avenue that connects the Town Hall to the beach.

The Narrow House modeled on a traditional pavilion of the 70s contrasts with the pure and very distinctive style of the Perret ensemble (which is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites).
