Aristide Maillol statues in Paris

These statues are located in the Jardin des Tuileries (near the Louvres Museum) in Paris, France.

Air (lead) by Aristide Maillol

For the sculpture “Air”, Maillol modeled Dina Vierny (who was Maillol’s muse for the last 10 years of his life – she also modeled for Matisse and Bonnard) in plaster in 1938. This casts is one of an edition of six.

Monument aux morts de Port Vendres (1923 – lead) by Aristide Maillol

The model for this work was also Dina Vierny. For the original war monument (for World War 1), the statue is in stone.
