Monet, Corot or Raoul Dufy came to paint the sea at Sainte-Adresse.
Claude Monet stayed in Sainte-Adresse in the home of his aunt, Sophie Lecadre, from June 1867 until near winter and painted many canvasses there. Just search on the Internet for “Sainte-Adresse Monet” and you will be rewarded with a good collection of Monet’s works.
The Beach at Sainte-Adresse, 1867 - Oil on canvas (75.8 x 102.5 cm) by Claude Monet – Collection Art Institute of Chicago
There is today a nice (and sometime windy) walk along the coast. The beach is full of pebbles of various size and some artists have made the most of it.
