Gentle Spring by Frederick Sandys

Frederick Sandys met Rossetti, one of the Pre-Raphaelite painters, in 1857. The painting Gentle Spring was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1865. It represents Proserpina who, in the Roman mythology, returned from the underworld every spring.
