Carnavalet Museum in Paris

This museum is about the history of Paris. It is hosted in a Renaissance-era hotel. The diverse collections exhibited in the museum goes from archaeology to complete interior of apartments over the centuries.



They also have a good collection of paintings.

Marie Cassatt was an American Impressionist painter who was a friend of Degas and Manet. There were a number of American artists who came to France to work with the Impressionist group, but she is probably the most famous of them.

Gentle Spring by Frederick Sandys


Frederick Sandys met Rossetti, one of the Pre-Raphaelite painters, in 1857. The painting Gentle Spring was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1865. It represents Proserpina who, in the Roman mythology, returned from the underworld every spring.
